How to make Edibles Using Cannabis: A Beginners Guide to Recreational Marijuana Recipes

Recreational marijuana is on the rise in states where it is legalized. Moreover, with that, the demand for cannabis-infused recipes has also grown. So whether you want to make a quick snack or a full meal, there are many ways to use cannabis in your cooking. In this article, we will go over some of the best edibles recipes available and how to make them. We will also cover possible health effects and other things to consider when making edibles at home.

Edibles, Explained

A common word that might be unfamiliar to some is the term “edibles.” Edibles are made up of foods, drinks, and treats infused with cannabis extract. It is a great way to consume cannabis because you can have your food or drink items in your set time frame. For example, suppose you wanted to eat an edible at 3 p.m. Then, you could have your three o’clock snack (that is infused) instead of smoking marijuana.

Edibles are not an entirely new concept - humans have been using cannabis in cooking for centuries - but they are becoming more popular as recreational marijuana becomes more prevalent across the United States. As legalization increases, edibles will become much more accessible and readily available for purchase in stores nearby!

What You'll Need

If you want to make edibles at home, there are some things you will need. If you are just interested in a snack that will last a few hours, all you need is weed and fat like butter or oil. For a more potent edible that will last longer, you need coconut oil, marijuana, and sugar. Alternatively, buy The Magical Butter Decarbox to speed up this process!

Truffles

Truffles are a great, mouth-watering recipe for edibles. Truffles are typically made with nuts and chocolate. They can be made using cannabis or without it. If you want to make them use cannabis, you need to mix your cannabis with fat like coconut oil, butter, or heavy cream. The amount of cannabis depends on the potency and how many truffles you want to make. You then need to roll the mixture into balls and place them in the fridge for about an hour before dipping them in melted chocolate.

Cannabis Tincture for Drinks

Tinctures are a great way to make cannabis-infused drinks. The process is simple: decarboxylate the weed, grind it up, add it to a jar with alcohol, shake for two weeks, then strain and enjoy!

The effects of cannabis tinctures can be felt in about 15 minutes and lasts for six hours. This makes them ideal for evening use. However, if you wait around an hour before using cannabis tinctures, the potency will be much higher.

There are three types of tincture recipes: 1) Cannabis Vinegar Tincture, 2) Cannabis Alcohol Tincture, 3) Cannabis Coconut Oil Tincture. All three have their benefits, which we will go over below.

Cannabis-Infused Oil for Cooking

Cannabis-infused oil is the most common way to infuse your food with cannabis. It can be used in any recipe that needs cooking oil, from stir fry to baking.

To make cannabis-infused oil, you need an ounce of finely ground marijuana and a cup of vegetable oil. Put the weed into a pot and bring it to a simmer. Add in 1 cup of vegetable oil and cover the pot with a lid. Allow the mixture to infuse for 3 hours, stirring occasionally. Strain out the weed and discard it, then store your cannabis-infused oil in a glass container.

Cannabis-Infused Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is the perfect edible base for this recipe. Coconut oil has a high smoke point, so it will not burn quickly when cooking. It is also naturally sweet and healthy to eat.

The cannabis-infused coconut oil will work as a delicious vegan substitute for butter in any dish that typically calls for butter. For example, you can use it as a spread on toast or pancakes, and you can even use it as an ingredient in baking recipes, such as brownies or cookies.

You can use cannabis-infused coconut oil instead of flour in your favorite dessert recipes if you're following a gluten-free diet.

Cannabis-Infused Brownies

Cannabis-infused brownies are one of the most popular edible recipes. They’re also effortless to make and require just a couple of simple ingredients. You first need to melt some butter in a pan with some cannabutter or coconut oil. Next, add an ounce of cannabis, as it will be easier to work with if ground up a bit. After heating on low heat for about 10 minutes, remove from heat and let cool for five more minutes. Next, stir in 1/4 cup of cocoa powder (unsweetened) with one egg and two tablespoons of sugar until well combined.

To finish the brownies, mix 1/4 cup flour, one teaspoon baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon salt in a bowl and then lightly fold it into the mixture in the pan. Stir everything together until well mixed. Spread out evenly into an 8x8 inch glass baking dish lined with parchment or wax paper. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack before cutting into squares when cooled completely (about 2 hours).

Cannabis-Infused Jam Recipe

Did you know that you can infuse your jam with cannabis? This is an excellent recipe for those who need to meditate on the go. By combining two favorite things (jam and weed), you can get instant relief anywhere. Mix your ingredients, cook it at a low temperature and let it cool. Then store it in the fridge for up to one week.

Cannabis-Infused Coconut Butter Recipe

Coconut butter is a popular ingredient these days, and with that comes the perfect opportunity to infuse it with cannabis.

Ingredients: 1 cup Coconut Butter

1/8 oz Cannabis

2 tbsp Toasted Coconut Oil

Salt to taste

Cannabis Sugar Cookies

The recipe is super simple and requires just a few items. First, you will need sugar cookies, cannabis (or cannabutter), vanilla extract, and powdered sugar. You will also need an oven, wooden spoon, rolling pin, cookie-cutter, or glass jar with a lid to cut out the dough shapes, a cookie sheet covered in parchment paper, and a wire rack.

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Place your sugar cookies onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Mix the marijuana (or cannabutter) with vanilla extract into a bowl. Roll the sugar cookie dough by hand into balls and then place them on the baking sheets evenly spaced apart. Use your fingers to flatten the dough ball to resemble a round cookie shape.

Next, place the tray of cookies in the oven for about 10 minutes until they turn golden brown on top and crunchy on the bottom. Then, remove them from the oven and let them cool down for at least 5 minutes before moving them to a wire rack to cool completely before eating them or storing them in an airtight container in a cool, dry place between 18 to 22 degrees Celsius (64-72 F).

While waiting for the cookies to cool down and harden, use a cookie-cutter or a glass jar with a lid to cut out shapes from the other half of your dough. Arrange the shapes on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Please place them in the oven and bake them at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for about 15 minutes until they turn golden brown on top and crunchy on the bottom. Then, remove them from the oven and let them cool down before eating or storing them in an airtight container in a cool, dry place between 18 to 22 degrees Celsius (64-72 F).

When you're ready to eat your weed sugar cookies, get some milk or eat it as is. Both work well because of marijuana's ability to increase appetite.
